A couple Rekha and Manish Vashisht were arrested by the Punjab Police following a raid on their company Gloss Pharmaceuticals in Sanand, Gujarat. Cops seized over 13 lakh tablets of Tramadol and Alprazolam from the company. The duo allegedly supplied the contraband to M\S Elichem Pharma, a company located in Hapur in UP. Punjab Police later applied for a five-day transit remand of both the accused.
Sources said the Gujarat connection emerged after Punjab police learned that the drug operation was run by one Dilbag Singh, who is lodged in Goindwal Sahib Jail in Tarn Taran, Punjab. According to the transit remand application submitted by Punjab Police in the Ahmedabad Court on December 4, the cops had first arrested Prince Kumar and Balginder Singh with 29 boxes of the two tablets. Later, on December 5 police arrested Mohan Singh, Akash Singh and Surjit Singh and seized 18,000 contraband tablets from them under the NDPS Act.
During interrogation, the accused told cops that they used to get tablets from M\s Elichem Pharma at Hapur in UP. Investigations revealed that the company had a fake license which it used to manufacture the tablets. The probe revealed that Elichem Pharma got the tablets from Gloss Pharmaceuticals in Sanand, Gujarat.
