Dehradun: Police have charged six persons for allegedly defrauding the owner of a pharmaceutical firm in Haridwar of Rs 52 lakh. The scam involved promising a contract for supplying drugs to govt hospitals under the state health department. A case was registered on orders from CM Pushkar Singh Dhami.
Dehradun SSP Ajai Singh said Prakash Chandra Upadhyay, Saurabh Vats, Nandini Vats, Mahesh Nagariya, Sonak Mahariya, and Shahrukh Khan have been booked based on a complaint by Ram Kewal, owner of J R Pharmaceuticals.

Singh added, “Saurabh, posing as a senior official in the state secretariat and an aide of a principal secretary, assured Kewal of a contract without the necessary e-tender process. They collected Rs 52 lakh from Kewal between May 2022 and Feb 2023. However, when the contract failed to materialise and Kewal demanded the return of his money, the accused resorted to threats. TNN
